Meiling Hou is a senior at the Bear Creek School for the 2026-2027 school year. She has been volunteering with the Little Masters Club since 2019, such as providing weekly online English reading to children with leukemia in China, teaching volleyball at Salvation Army, and managing the LMC social media accounts. Meiling is the founder and team lead of the Heritage & Me program, where she leads a group of high schoolers in commemorating the history of early Chinese Americans, and showcasing the contributions made by contemporary Chinese Americans. Last summer, Meiling and her team partnered with the Redmond Historical Society to conduct the first-ever research project documenting Chinese American history in Redmond. In 2026, Meiling led her team in conducting interviews with Chinese American elected officials across Washington State to share their stories and inspire greater youth engagement in civic life. In addition, Meiling and team are hosting four large-scale Chinese Twenty-Four Solar Terms cultural fairs in 2026, connecting art healing with youth mental health awareness. Meiling and the team are committed to community service, cultural education, civic engagement, and has inspired more young people and parents to actively serve the community.
