Councilmember Will Chen is a Certified Public Accountant, entrepreneur, community leader, and public servant who currently serves on the Edmonds City Council. Born and raised in China, he came to the United States in 1995 at age 24. While studying accounting at the University of Iowa, he worked three part-time jobs, earned his master's degree, and passed the CPA exam. He later built a successful career with Kimberly-Clark as an internal auditor travelling around the world before establishing his own accounting firm in Washington State.
Beyond his professional career, Councilmember Chen has devoted himself to serving his community. He co-founded the Asian Service Center to support immigrants and underserved families and established the Second Chance Scholarship at Edmonds College for homeless students. He is serving on the board of the Lynnwood Food Bank, is an active member of the Rotary Club, and brings diverse cultures such as Dragon Boat festival to the north King and south Snohomish area.
In 2021, he was elected to the Edmonds City Council, where he helped strengthen the city’s public safety and budget balance while promoting cultural diversity, inclusion, and community engagement. Through his experience at the primary election for the Washington State House of Representatives, Councilmember Chen continues to advocate for tax reform and address affordability concerns for all communities. He encourages young people to get involved in their communities, to identify the needs of local residents, and exercise their rights to vote; it is crucial to get their voice heard to bring real, positive changes in people’s daily life.
